Jayne Butt Memorial Aeta School
Socorro, Mariones, San Jose, Tarlac
Jayne was the wife of John Butt, a foreign diplomat with the Canadian Embassy in Philippines from 2001 to 2004.  The family came to the Philippines after several years in New Delhi, India.  Jayne’s generous spirit and personality embraced all she came in contact with!  Jayne’s belief was to seek and find where she could help out in whatever way she could.  Her love, humour and memorable laugh was shared with victims of leprosy in India; female prisoners in Mandaluyong; while raising funds for cancer research; helping as a volunteer of evacf; and while assisting as a Girl Scout leader.

As a member of evacf Jayne was familiar with the school in Sitio Socorro called E.V.A  Abelling School.  When the tribal council requested another school building, it was decided to construct the new one in Jayne’s memory. Jayne’s sudden death made many people extremely sad and such a building is a wonderful memorial to her life.

Funding for the building were provided by evacf, The British Women’s Association, and Jean McCann (Jayne’s mother in Canada). Supplies were collected by personal friends and members of the Canadian Embassy.

News November 2006: A donation towards EVACF work was received recently in loving memory of EVACF volunteer Jayne E Butt. The 45 children attending Grades 1 and 2 are all doing well and studying hard and the building is used for adult literacy teaching at the weekends.
