EVAC volynteers and Catherine Ramos of NCIP outreach team visited the school to distribute school supplies and garden tools to the staff and children. This school still has a full compliment of teachers supplied by the Phlippines Government Department of Education, who are dedicated and enthusiastic. Everybody greatly appreciates the generosity and caring shown for teh school by Standard Chartered Bank. They have recently refurbished the whole school which is now bright and clean and furnished with ceiling fans, the originals donated by British School Children.

News January 29th 2009:

Catherine Ramos and the NCIP outreach team visited the school to distribute generous gifts and school supplies to the staff and children resulting in huge smiles everywhere. This school has a full compliment of teachers supplied by the Phlippines Government Department of Education, who are dedicated and enthusiastic. One teacher shared her wish for a computer printer. And that wish will be granted as we have one waiting to be distributed. This school has been visited by us many times in the last two years but we don't always remember our camera.

News September 6th 2007:

When we visited the school this September the place was brimming over with busy teachers, parents and children. A great variety of activities were happening. Children doing lessons in classrooms, learning how to plant (guided by a parent), sweeping the classrooms and smiling a LOT. The problem of dampness in two calssroooms was discussed alongside the GREAT NEWS that Manila Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) and its Korean counterpart group are now VERY ACTIVELY joining in the life and needs of the school; true corporate social responsibility in action.

News, December 2006 : Maria Ellis of Standard chartered Bank visited the Standard Chartered Bank School complex in November 2006 to help the teacher give blue piggy banks for happy saving during the chinese year of the pig. Fortuitously a young man in a passing vehicle asked directions and not only got them but became an anonymous donor. Standard Chartered generously re-roofed the school in 2006 and we are trying to get funding to place gutters at the back of the school to stop persistent flooding problems.

The Standard Chartered First, Middle and Upper AETA schools were all constructed with the help of Standard Chartered Bank, Manila's "small donation" fund. Together they form the first full elementary TOES facility. They are very well used by the community for cultural events, adult literacy and medical missions. The First school opened in February 2002, the Middle school in June 2002 and the Upper school in October 2004.

These schools cater for almost 200 Aeta and Abelling pupils.  On 26 February 2003 the schools were the subject of a special visit from H.E. Ambassador Paul Dimond and Consul Doug Paterson, of the British Embassy in Manila, who were touring facilities in the area.
